Of course you can easily visit the well- known touristic favourites like the leaning tower of Pisa , the walls of Lucca or Michelangelo’s David in Florence. Or the beautiful coast of Livorno & Versilia. It’s all within 45 mins of Villa Monteleone.

And San Gimignano & Volterra are about an hour by car.

But there are lots of smaller treasures even more close to enjoy

Chianti of Montecarlo

Although Chianti and Montecarlo are both located in Tuscany, they are distinct wine regions. It is important to distinguish between them, as the term “Chianti” refers to a specific region, while Montecarlo is a separate DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) located near Lucca.

The white truffle of San Miniato (Tuber magnatum Pico) is one of the most prized and rare truffle varieties in the world, originating from the hills surrounding San Miniato in Tuscany, Italy. Renowned for its intense aroma and distinctive flavour, it is often regarded as the “king” of all truffles.

Piaggo Vespa of Pontedera

Pontedera is the historic and current home of Piaggio and its most iconic brand, Vespa. This Tuscan town, near Pisa, is the industrial heart where these world-famous scooters have been produced since 1946. The Museo Piaggio is housed in one of the oldest halls of the factory.

Monestry of Calci

The Certosa di Calci, also known as the Certosa di Pisa, is an impressive former Carthusian monastery dating back to 1366, located in the “Valle Graziosa” near Pisa. The complex is considered a Baroque masterpiece and today houses two separate museums.

Giants of Peccioli

The Giants of Peccioli, officially called Presenze, are four monumental white sculptures of human figures placed throughout the Tuscan landscape surrounding the village. The sculptures range from 5 to 9 metres in height and are made of polystyrene and polyurethane, coated with cement fibres.
